The Sacramento Kings have always been on the forefront of utilizing sports technology to enhance their athletes’ performance and reduce the risk of injuries. We spoke with members of the Sacramento Kings organization to get their insights on how KangaTech has helped the team.
De’Aaron Fox, one of the team’s star guards, has personally benefited from KangaTech’s features. “I like training with the KT360 because it keeps you accountable with doing your exercises correctly,” he said. “It also shows you how long you’re able to keep your muscles under tension.” Fox also mentioned that KangaTech helped him recover from an ankle injury faster than expected. “Right before I got back on the court, we were able to see that my ankle was stronger than it was prior to my injury. That kept me confident with being able to go back on the floor earlier than expected and not having to worry about injuring my ankle again.”
Aisling Toolan, the team’s Physical Therapist, spoke about KangaTech’s versatility. “While we mostly use the KangaTech to screen in and around the hips and pelvis of our athletes, we also use it to screen the ankle and the shoulder very frequently. The versatility of the KangaTech 360 is really impressive and you can test almost any joint in the body, at any joint angle.”
But KangaTech’s hardware unit is only part of the equation. The software platform is equally important in helping the team’s medical staff and strength coaches collaborate more effectively. “The KangaTech software platform, in addition to the 360 hardware unit, really helps to encourage communication and collaboration amongst our health and performance team,” Toolan said. “Strength coaches and medical staff are able to communicate really clearly and we can also give feedback to our coaching and front-office staff on where exactly a player is in his progression back to the court following an injury.”
Overall, the Sacramento Kings’ partnership with KangaTech has been a success. The team has been able to prevent injuries, recover from injuries faster, and individualize their players’ training programs. With KangaTech’s cutting-edge technology, the Kings are sure to stay ahead of the curve in the NBA.
De’Aaron Fox:
I like training with the KangaTech because it keeps you accountable with doing your exercises correctly. It also shows you how long you’re able to keep your muscles under tension.
With my ankle injury last year, we began to use the KangaTech even more. Right before I got back on the court, we were able to see that my ankle was stronger than it was prior to my injury. That kept me confident with being able to go back on the floor earlier than expected and not having to worry about injuring my ankle again.
With the KangaTech, I’ve been able to see myself get stronger - my shoulder, ankle, hips. Ever since we started to use it, my control has gotten a lot better. I’ve been able to last a lot longer than I was. It’s a different machine, I’d never used it prior to this year and I think it’s done a great job being able to pinpoint where I need to get stronger, and I think we’ve done a great job training to get there.
